Ordering Process and Shipping Costs
We’re kicking off sales with an Ulule campaign. Place your order now to take advantage of special early bird pricing!
In most cases shipping cost for the first item is 3,80€ for Germany or 10€ for the other EU countries and 2,00 to 2,50€ for additional items. The actual shipping cost will be shown before you enter your payment data. If the numbers you see are very different from what you are expecting, please contact us to fix the problem.
Which countries do you ship to?
The actual shipping will be handled by Amazon.de. They support shipping to these 27 EU countries:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cypress, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
We would like to ship worldwide via Amazon.com as well, but haven’t yet been able to arrange for import into the US. If you have any helpful tips, please let us know!
Where will my order be shipped from?
Our products will be shipped from Amazon’s warehouses in Germany. That means no customs delays or extra costs and no waiting for shipments from the other side of the world.
What makes your boards better than the others currently being sold?
Unlike some of the companies currently selling boards, we don’t just grab some random design files and produce them through the cheapest manufacturing service we can find to try to make easy money from other people’s work.
Michael (our project founder, who has 14 years’ professional experience as an electronics developer and embedded systems programmer) has been tinkering with his own home-built 3d printer for some time now, and incorporates his experience into his designs. He also studies the reviews in popular user forums and fixes as many of the commonly-discussed problems as possible before putting the products into production.
Using his experience in electronic manufacturing and development services, Michael also ensures that the final designs are optimized for mass production. Sometimes it’s possible to reduce the production costs or significantly improve reliability through even very small design changes or the selection of slightly different components.
Finally, our PCB designs are done by a PCB designer with many years of professional experience.
The exact differences (improvements) from the standard designs are explained in detail on each individual product page.
Do you manufacture the products yourselves?
Our project founder, Michael Mayer, does the design modifications and technical drawings himself, and then sends them to a production facility where they are manufactured on our behalf. (Michael worked for a while at a electronics design and manufacturing design service company in Asia, and is putting this experience to good use!) This means better quality control and lower prices for you than if we were actually making each piece ourselves.
Would you also manufacture and sell my really cool board/my new 3D printer design?
Maybe! If we like the design and we can see a market for it, then we’d be interested in working with you. Just ask!
What kind of name is MaKr3D? Don’t you know how to spell ‘Maker’?
The company name comes from a combination of our own names – Mayer and Kramer. We thought it was neat – perhaps even serendipitous? – that together they spell ‘maker’ (or close enough). The 3D part is obvious, right?
